The Use of Code-Switching and Code-Mixing in Teaching Narrative Texts in EFL Classroom
English is known as international language which is often used by many people to communicate with foreign people or just for mixing terms in their conversation to look cooler when talking. The research design that used in this qualitative invetsigation is case study. This study has a purpose to find the reasons of using code-switching and code-mixing either to determine the implementation of code switching and code mixing used by teacher in teaching and learning process focused on narrative text. To collect the data in this study, researcher decided to use interview and observation. This study used analysis techniques based on style from Miles and Huberman to analyze the data. The participant of this research are students of EFL classroom in Central Java and the teacher who teach them in English lesson focused on narrative texts. The results of this study indicate that there are 8 reasons teacher use code switching and code mixing when teaching narrative texts in EFL classroom. This study also proves that teacher apply all types of code switching and code mixing which refers to Hoffman's theory. This research dedicate to be the references about the use of code swiching and code mixing in teaching narrative text.
