Pre-Service Teachers' Strategies in Teaching Writing Skill Through Online Learning During Pandemic
Writing skill is one of the important things that must be learned by students.
Therefore, pre-service teachers must have a good strategy in teaching writing skills.
In the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic, all teaching and learning activities were
carried out at home with an online system to reduce the risk of transmitting this
virus. Therefore, pre-service teachers must have a good strategy so that students
can understand the material well. This study aims to find out what strategies that
pre-service teachers used when teaching writing skills through online learning and
their reasons for choosing these strategies. This study used qualitative approach.
The participants of this study were three pre-service teachers who had finished
teaching writing skills through online classes. The data were collected through
semi-structured interviews. The data were analyzed by using a combination of
theories from various experts. The results of this study indicate that pre-service
teachers used three strategies in teaching writing skills during this pandemic, they
are shared writing strategy, collaborative writing and mind maps. Their reason for
choosing this strategy was because shared writing strategy allows students to
participate directly and feel involved in learning process, the collaborative writing
strategy can make writing easier because students do it in pairs, then for the mind
map strategy because pre-service teachers adjust the abilities of their students.
